I need a driver side door latch for my G20 Van. 1971 - 1985 will fit. Anybody have one to spare?

My buddy owns a '85 G20 van that he was looking to sell a while back, but he may be willing to part ways with a door latch. If he still has the van then I'll ask him the next time I see him

On a related note, have you tried frequenting a local salvage yard in order to search for a spare door latch? What about OEM GM parts sites like gmpartsgiant.com? Their selection is usually quite vast and the prices are pretty good in the pantheon of OEM parts.

 

I`m in no hurry for the door latch. It`s been broken for 6 - 8 years. I called my favorite salvage yard, and visited another, but neither had one. Checked with one that I knew would have the part but also knew it would be over priced. $35. That`s the same place that charged me $125 for 4 wheels and bald tires which I needed to get a car off the floor. It`s too bad many of the small yards have disappeared. I did not know about gmpartsgiant.com but I checked and they don`t have it, not that I could find anyway. Check with your friend about the `85. Thanks. I haven`t tried removing my latch to see if I can fix it. Might do that. It`s probably a broken spring. I`ve owned this van since 1986. Just recently did a cheap repair to the transmission, thanks to Jake`s Performance. Trans shops wanted to rebuild it, and I was going to junk the van. A used governor for $18 fixed it!

 

I removed the latch and was able to replace a broken spring. It`s working fine now.
