Default New aftermarket stereo not working like OME

I just got a Kenwood DDX375BT put in my 2006 GMC 2500 Savana and the OME one would keep playing after I turned off the motor and when I opened the door that would then shut off the stereo. This new unit the shop wired different and it now goes off with the motor. I don't like it. They tell me a I need a 200$ module to get it to act right. I think they pulled the power from the wrong place.

No, Retained Accessory Power is a feature that does require a module. But they should have known that, and should have offered it to you in the first place. Criuchfield sells this for $79.99, when purchased alone, discounted when you buy a radio from them at $34.53.

So, IMHO, they're incompetent, and instead of owning up to their mistake, they're gonna gouge you for it. Buyer beware.

STAN is right on the money on that one
have recently installed a Kenwood unit and
I opted out not too spend that on the module...
since mine is a throw back to the 70 tribute van
hey might as well not have all the bells and whistles.. lmao....
