I used regular oil mobile 1 5w-30, had an issue. Drove from NY to CA and changed to Full Synthetic, now after 2500 miles I am getting this ticking noise on start up. After 40 seconds noise goes away. What can it be? I think its because I changed to full synthetic.

Isn't regular oil Mobile 1 5w-30 full synthetic? What kind of issue did you have?

sounds like lifter tap. Try a can of valve medic. if it goes away, then yup. lifter tap. Try switching to high mileage semi synthetic oil....like Maxx life from valvoline. The higher ZDDP may help. Dont forget, they reduced the zddp in regular oils because of the new emission standards or something.....the industry cares less about your engine's lifespan than they do the enviromental morons out there.

Hi Green:Better use it if you have a GM that requires it! Fortunately nearly all major brands now meet the Dexos standard so just look on the back of the bottle for the qualification before buying.Pat
