Default no back up lights

Went for my annual inspection and now I find that I have no back up lights. Bulbs are good but there is nothing coming down the wire when tested with a test light. This is the 1ton commercial van converted for motor home use so most of the wiring for this has been installed at the mh factory. This is a 6.0 with the heavy duty trans. Anyone know what wires feed the back up lights from the tranny? I have checked the fuses and they are good. So figured I would start from the beginning but the trans has several cables going to it. My backup lights work only part time. I found the culprit is in the shift linkage when I shift into REVERSE. To remedy this until I fix it: I have to play with the shifter until the backup lights come on. The way I know this is that I have a backup camera hardwired to my reverse lights.
Hope it was of some help
