parking break pedal won't give it up
the new cable has the right sku and appears to be identical in length, and the foot pedal is all the way out.
Is there a release that allows the cable drum in the pedal mechanism to release and rotate backwards to feed more cable out.
Think of the parking break pedal with a cam or pulley attached to it. The pulley is situated so the cable wraps around 270 degrees of the pulley. Release the pulley so the cable wraps around 90 - 120 degrees and I have enough slack to make the connection.

drivers side rear broke at the rear break lever. It stretched. Can parking break pedal assy take up slack as the cable stretched? The assy is holding the 3-4" of cable I need to make the rear to intermediate cable connection.

It was a two person job. One to pull on the cable and one to depress the tang on the pedal spring. If the picture loads, it shows the spring, The tang is just below the picture line.

Parking brake release assembly
I replaced the whole assembly but I cannot get the pin out of the assembly. The pedal is solid and will not budge. The cable has a lot of slack underneath. Any ideas on how to get the pin out?
