Default Power steering system capacity?

Looking for the total capacity of the power steering system on my van. This includes the reservoir attached to the pump itself, the hanging reservoir (the one with the filler cap up top), the hydroboost, the tube cooler, the lines, and the gear. Can’t find this information anywhere including the owners manual.

If I remember, I can try looking on identifix when I get to work tomorrow, but PS system capacity isn’t typically recorded.

Like I stated in your other thread, 3/4 gallon is enough to adequately flush the system - you could always flush a full gallon through it and then buy an extra bottle or 2 to make sure you have enough for bleeding.

Thank you. It’s not one of those things I’ve ever seen recorded. I think I’m going to use Amsoil so I’m trying to determine how much I need so I don’t under/over buy it. I’ll just have to buy more to be safe.

No info that I could find on system capacity on identifix. FWIW, the good news is PS fluid isn’t hygroscopic (absorbs moisture) and has unlimited shelf life, so as long as you keep the extra in a sealed container, you’ll have it whenever you need it.

Thanks for checking!

Update:

With new hoses, new cooler, new pump, and new hydroboost, I used 90oz of fluid. This includes flushing, which at this point was only the steering gear. I probably flushed about 6oz until it was all new fluid coming out. I ended up using Royal Purple Max EZ synthetic power steering fluid.
