Problem: Stuck in gear, cannot park
Hi guys, I'm a new member to the Chevy community and posting on behalf of my father.
I did a search prior to this thread but I saw nothing useful or similar.
I have a 2004 Chevy Express 2500 and as of recent, I have not been able to put the car into park. It turns on and shuts off fine, and can move from any gear from R,N,D,3,2,1, etc.. Park does not seem to work, the shifter locks up at the gear before park.
Maybe its the wiring?
Anyone have a clue? That would be greatly appreciated!

Check the linkage cable. If its not adjusted properly it will not go into park. I had mine break, and I had to open up the steering column and pull back part of the ignition key mechanism with a screwdriver to get it to go into park. However, once I replaced the cable, it worked fine again.....I was worried that it was a separate issue, but the new cable fixed all.
