Hi, new to the forum, got a 2001 express van 3500, when redoing rear brakes does the shorter brake shoe always go on the front (towards front of vehicle)? On both sides? Just did complete brake job front and rear and now vehicle pulls to the right when braking and when hard braking rear drum on right locks up makes tire skid for like 2 seconds. Large shoe was on the front on rear drum. Did I do somethng wrong?

 

Did you over adjust the brakes after putting the drums back on? Make sure there is just a little resistance when you spin the wheel.....Also, any greasy fingerprints on the linings will cause grab.
On drum brakes the shoe with less lining is the leading shoe. It goes to the front. The one with the longer lining is the trailing shoe and goes at the back.
Make sure all surfaces the shoes rub on on the backing plate etc are lubed with brake grease. Same on the fronts, the sliding pins and the contact points on the pads to the calipers. And make sure no grease is transferred to the surface of the linings.
