Rear door hanging off... rusted pin?
Hi I’ve a 2005 Chevy express Van. I opened the rear passenger side door up yesterday and the passenger side rear door basically dropped about a half an inch it seemed like there was some type of pin that rusted out. How is something like that fixed? How expensive is it to fix? I went to the Chevy dealership and try to have it repaired and they told me to go see a body shop because they were not able to do it. Has anyone else had any experiences like this?
Thank you

Post a picture so that we can see how bad the damage is. Usually replacing the pin and the bushings is all it takes. The pin and bushings kit is not expensive and you can do it yourself.

Is that a sliding door?
And what kind of dealer doesn't have it's own body shop? I just looked at my swing doors, and noticed the hinges are welded to both the door and the frame, so I get the whole body shop thing.

Then maybe my confusion is that your pics are a bit too close. I got Google pics of a 2005, and they're not too different than mine. And that means if the hinge is truly bad, you need to have new ones welded in. But, if it is just the pin and bushings, those are available, and fairly easy to replace. The trick will be knocking the old ones out. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

> Let me rephrase the question. Is it a sliding door, or two swing out doors?
Geez Stan. He said REAR doors three times. It's not the side doors.
It looks like the pin is just missing. Put a new pins and bushings in. Costs probably around ten bucks.
