I accidentally broke of the lead while replacing the rubber bushings and hardware from my rear driver's side window. Has anyone
ever tried this repair kit ? I'd hate to replace the window.
The repair kits don’t work that great. You can re solder the tab back on. It’s pretty easy to do if the glass is removed and laying on a table of stand..the trick is to preheat the glass. Get a scotch bright pad or super fine sand paper and gently sand the area until it looks shiny. The clean with alcohol. Slowly preheat the glass from both sides with a mini torch. Get just hot enough you can’t hold your fingers to it. Then take the tab ( or wire ) and heat it up until the solder that was still there heats up and falls off. You may need some extra hands for the next part. Then put the wire on the warm glass and hold it down with a pick or small screw driver. Apply heat to wire and add solder . It should flow under and around the wire. Remove heat but KEEP pressure on the pick until the solder cools and hardens. If you need I can make a video of doing it. I do it all the time . I own a auto glass company that’s why.
