refrigerator repair/replacement - 1988 Get-a-way series G van
Hello,
I just bought a 1988 series G Get-a-way van and discovered the refrigerator is not working with AC power. I only tested as far as ensuring power is being delivered to it's plug. I set to Electricity and turn the thermostat up and nothing. I set to DC and same. I have not tried using the propane burner. Wondering if anyone has experience with this and maybe some tips, or perhaps link to manual?
First thing to check is if you have 120v present at the electrical plug. The one that looks like a normal wall plug shown in your picture. A GFCI might be tripped somewhere else.
If yes then you will have to check if you have 120v present at the element when turned on to AC.
If yes then check you heater element resistance. Should be around 80 ohms for a 175 watt element.
It is easy to check and replace. Did mine last week.
Here is link to your RM2300 service manual : https://www.nationalserroscotty.org/...ice-manual.pdf
Amazon has about any size fridge you want for under$200. Being a trucker I've replaced quite a few. Not sure if the bounce gets them or not. I'm thinking about a 1 CF freezer just to make ice cubes which I use most. Sorry for the pun, but- think outside the box. Keeping the older one, even if you get a new harbor freight inverter is not a fight I would choose
