trying the pictures a different way

 

those look like pop rivets to me. I would go ahead and drill them out.

 

if they have to be drilled out i will research some kind of screw insert like you suggested, would be nice to be able to access them easier...

you'll need to know the hole size to choose the correct insert+fastener. You might try drilling out one rivet first.

 

GEEZE Did Any one not read what I posted...
YES they are pop rivets... and YES I drilled 1 of mine out
ONLY to find... that it is attached to a door panel clip.... that POPS into
the hole in the door.....

 

If it wasnt so late I would go out and find the said clip then open my door
and show you all that on my van.... the door panel attaches to the door
its self with clips those clips are POP RIVETED to the door panel
you exert some pressure on the panel and the door panel will
pop off NOW provided that you take that handle assembly off too...

It makes sense. My passenger van looks a bit different, but yes, a lot of the trim is held by various types of clips, and will come off with a quick, firm tug. Unfortunately, they only survive removal once or twice before they break.

will pop these off in the next couple of days and insulate the doors too
hopefully they wont need to come off again and will go back together right

insulating the doors is not hard... it makes a huge difference
in sound and keeping it cool or warm....

 

Is that **** on the walls? I get why you call it Elmo now.
