pointed at the tstat housing it wouldn’t go above 150 idling forever in hot weather. So I replaced it and the gauge now shows higher (couple notches below 210), I guess that was it. hopefull mpg improves a bit, I was at 14/15 freeway with an empty van stock everything..

ok now youve entered another zone. mpg. both my 1989 and 2007 1 ton vans got 15 mpg but they had the huge 14 bolt differentials. my 92 got 18 when it was empty. ive found if i dont use premium at high altitude the knock sensor will retard the timing. when i changed transmissions i went to a manual lockup button for my torque converter and i get 17 loaded to the gills now. not sure if this can be done on your 4l60e or 4l80e. dont have my tach installed yet but think it drops rpm by 2-300 rpm at 70 mph

Replaced tstat it’s running at proper temp now and mpg went from 14 fwy to 17 👍
