Default searchig for weartherstrip

Hi there,

I am looking for a new weatherstrip for my 04 3500.
Position is the side. I need the weatherstrip for the body to door. Not the ones for the door.
I am not sure if it is pos 5 on the picture/link. Position Nr 5, prt nr 15126640
Even the service could not answer this question.
Anyone with experience who can help me out?

THX
Dirk

I believe you're right about it being #5. The description states the part is for the slide door and hinged door vans so it must attach to the van and not the doors. The diagram is also drawn in a way showing it's for the van side compared with other diagrams I've seen.

You might also try local salvage yards. They won't inventory these seals but it they have a newer van in the yard they'll sell them. Should be the same part up through the current vans.

I was just confused, because nobody at the service was able to answer that question.
So I will give it a try…

The drawing is a little confusing because it looks like that seal is drawn in perspective looking from an angle that makes it look narrower (like the width of one door) than it actually is. Looking straight on that seal would be nearly the width of both doors. If it was a seal for the door side there would be two of them in the image.

Strange that nobody at the dealer could answer that. Were they kids?

I also think that the description could be better…
by the way: it was a chat with a real person…

I don't know what happened to the weatherstrip for my rear doors but I suspect the stealer disappeared it for some reason. I had them install a $1000. turn signal computer - which I have since found involved breaking off the mounting tabs on the lights and the black decorative panel above them. Also got it back with the wires sticking out the side.

It took me a while to realize why the truck was suddenly so damned loud inside - who expects an entire door seal to go missing? <g>

Anyway; I order some generic seal from Amazon which not only fits perfect but actually provides a better seal.

I can find the link if you need it but I found it in seconds with a generic search.

Here it is:

Amazon Amazon

It slides onto / clips onto the external panel seams around the door opening.

My thought was: be here in two days, easy as pie to return to Amazon, so what the hell? It turned out to be perfect. <g>

There was also an OEM specific version for about twice the price. That would have been my fall-back but the above did the trick.
