Source for airbag sensor under Drivers seat
Anybody know of a source for a part number 15071421. This is the airbag sensor under the drivers seat. The van is a 2001 GMC 2500 savanna van with a 5.0 liter engine. I can't seem to find any source online for the part.
Airbag light stays on.
Padding under rubber mat was (is) saturated and water seemed to have gotten in through the rubber based sealant on the bottom of the sensor.
Have codes(P1631,B1000, B1001, B1004, B1009, U1000). None of which relates to the airbags. According to the scanner at least.
My scanners do not read "airbag".
If I can't find the part online, I'll try a junk yard.
Thanks
Ron

I took apart the Airbag sensor and found all sorts of a moist slurry residue inside by the lifted sealant corner. I cleaned it off with Q tips, dental probes and a toothbrush dipped in rubbing alcohol. I'll see if I can find electronic testing methods to see if any components have fried.. In either case, I'll put it back in and attach the plug to see if that fixes the, "Airbag" light.
It worked for the, PCM last month.

I don't need the part anymore. After taking it apart and cleaning away all the slurry(aluminum oxide?) the "Airbag light has gone off. The light blinks as it should and goes off. I'll put more sealant on it to isolate the electronics and we should be okay. Good thing as I couldn't find a replacement part anywhere on the Internet. Even the egregiously over priced GM sources.
If you need to do this, be very careful about the sealant removal. There are printed circuits at the very edge of the board. Cut around the edge with a utility knife to release the board from the sides of the case. There are two torx screws in the corners. Carefully expose them and unscrew them. The whole board will come out if you gently pry it up. If you get resistance, go around again with the utility knife and re score the perimeter. The sealant(1/4" thick) will peel off the circuit board with a little patience.
The issue with the water getting into the truck was caused by the rear cargo door weather-stripping allowing water to get in and soak the clothe padding under the top vinyl mat.. The weather-stripping is being replaced today.
Just make sure you disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for the capacitors to discharge before you start on this component. I waited 1/2 an hour.
