Does the stereo deck have "short protection" built in? Mine does and will shut down even if single speaker grounds out.

Beau, does it totally shut off, or does it just shut down the output?, Not that Steve's radio handles it the same way, but I'm curious.

were the speakers changed out? if the front and rear are not the same ohms....the head unit will think its a short.

Yes Stan. All the way off. As if there is no power at all. Kinda like an internal circuit breaker.

This is a good lead. One of the previous owners was an electrical hack based on previous discoveries.
