Default towing capacity

I have a 2001 Chevy express 1500 conversion van WITHOUT the towing package. Is it going to damage the transmission if i pull a Rockwood hard-sided popup camper? Not
sure of the weight, its an A-style

You have to find out the trailer weight. Contact the manufacturer.
It also depends on your conversion. 1500's don't have a lot of payload capacity, and I'm sure a lot of weight was added. Did they modify the suspension etc...

In my owner's manual there's a table for calculating maximum trailer weight.
It's in the "Driving and Operating" section
