Exclamation 1996 k1500 engine grounds?

My son has no pcm signal going to the ecm to initiate coil spark. I am sure he didnt reinstall all ground straps etc. After rebuilding the engine. One important ground is located under the ac/ and heater hoses on passenger firewall! (he broke the stud off) how important is this one? Does anyone have a list of all ground locations? So i can check them all?

Make sure the battery is good and has a good clean ground connection first. You can buy a Dorman general purpose ground strap and bolt it from the block to the ladder frame almost anywhere Just make sure it has lots of play to account for engine mount movement.

The ladder frame is used on pickups and larger vehicles, such as medium duty and heavy duty class 8 commercial vehicles. It is inherently stronger then the unibody frame construstion of newer light vehicles, that are desined to cushion or "crunch" in order to provide a level of protection to the occupants of smaller cars and even some SUV's.

Your Chevrolet K-1500 has such a frame, as do most any pickup truck I can think of, no matter who manufactured the pickup. Your engine rests on the motor mounts which are attached to your ladder frame. Since these mounts are made of a non-metallic substance, they cannot provide for a good ground and thus the need for grounding cables or straps.
