Need help understanding small block chevy 350
I have a 96 gmc yukon with a 350 vortec in it that is locked up. I bought a motor out of a 94 chevy truck with only the heads and crank. I know that the 94 had a tbi (throttle body injection) and mine has vortec heads and intake. As far as I know the blocks should be the same and everything should bolt over. However during research I found that I need a special intake that cost 600 to bolt everything over. To me this makes no sense, as if the vortec heads bolt on then the vortec intake should as well? If anyone knows anything please help me out. This is my first time looking to rebuild anything, and I am by no means an expert. Thanks for letting me post. Can post pics if needed
If I were you, I would use the entire 94 engine without the vortec heads from the 96. You won’t know the compression ratio without the help of a machine shop and that could ruin you engine.
