Default Trailer wiring problem

I have a 2011 Silverado 2500HD and the right side stop/turn circuit to the trailer plug has gone dead with no voltage. The right side stop/turn on the pickup box works just fine. I did tap into the pickup box right side stop/turn circuit to get my trailer back on the road, but now the flasher on the pickup over heats and flashes the lights rapidly. Does anyone have any information on how i can repair the circuit to the trailer lights plug? Thanks!

Go to the trailer plug and back track the wires as far as you can and look for any shorts, broken wires, stripped insulation, etc.
