Was '01 Blazer fuel pump repaired properly?
The fuel pump went in my '01 Blazer. The mechanic told me he dropped one side of the tank to put the new fuel pump in. I went to the gas pump a couple days later when the Blazer was out of gas. When I went to fill it, all the gas went on the ground! I had it towed back in to the garage, and the fuel filler neck had broken in the part it was thinnest during the fuel pump job. I had to pay for the whole new repair on the filler neck. Some have told me the tank should have been taken out completely for the fuel pump fix and the problem could have been avoided. I was shown the broken fuel filler neck, and while it was thinner in the area it broke, it didn't appear all that rusty. The mechanic told me there was sand and junk collected where it broke. Your opinion? Thanks.
