2001 impala 3800 engine replaced 02 sensor and check engine light comes on, fuel economy goes south. Can I get rid of this sensor and cat. converter and get my fuel econ. back?

 

nope you cant. since the o2 sensor is one of the primary inputs to your computer you will most likely be doing more harm than good. Without the O2 sensor reading your exhaust your vehicle will just run poorly and fuel economy will be poor. my suggestion buy a little obd2 scanner and pull the code. it could be a number of things unrelated to the O2 sensor affecting your fuel economy
