06 1500 5.3 iac
Hey guys, New to the forum.. I have a police issued 06 Chevy Express 1500 2wd with a 5.3. I am 99% certain that my Idle Air Control Valve is shot. I have worked on a bunch of LS motors to know the signs. Hissing sound, Stalling, Rough idle, no CEL,.. Well no matter where i look there is never a part listed for it. Even GM wants to sell me a whole throttle body? I cannot figure out why. And yes I have removed everything and cleaned thoroughly. Has anyone replaced the IAC on a 5.3 here and had success? I will probably just buy one of 2500hd 6.0 truck because that seems to be all thats available. Any help would be sweet. Thanx all.

Do you see one on your engine? Because it's likely that you don't have one. Somewhere in the early 2000s GM started switching to Throttle Actuator Control, eliminating the throttle cable, and idle air control valve. It's all throttle by wire, and the throttle body uses the blade itself to control the idle speed. If you don't see a throttle cable that's probably what you have.
CARiD shows an IAC vavle for your Chevy:

That's for a 6.0 I have a 5.3.
