Default 06 Chevy 2500 Hd 4x4 t-case

I have a 06 Chevy 2500 Hd 4x4 with a transfer case problem. Would anyone know which type transfer case I have. My tag is missing. It has the 6.0 engine, auto, with the 3 push button electric shift. I think it has the NP 261 but not sure. It has a brg going down to the front drive shaft. Also does anyone know of a video on how to disassemble it and make repairs.

It's probably the NP261. Generally, a solid, well-made unit.

The problem isn't the transfer case.

More than likely it's a frozen solenoid,

or switching problem at the push-button controls. (Sorry)

This is the reason all the seasoned 4WD vets insist on

a manual transfer case control.

While auto locking hubs are a little more dependable, many

purists even insist on Warn manual locking hubs...
