Question '07 avalanche 5.3 no oil pressure

Hey Guys, Chevy dealer is running me around. message reads"no oil pressure-stop driving immediately." I can't find any leaks, oil pressure gauge goes up after giving it gas, and the engine is purring-no roughness or knocks. Should be covered under the powertrain warranty but dealer is saying if its a sensor problem I will have to pay. If the truck is telling me NOT to drive it it sounds like the warranty should cover that. Or should I just put a new sensor on(can't find where it is located!) and call it a day? been a mechanic for 25 years(mostly transmissions and diesel heavy equipment) and this is throwing me for a loop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Indyrob

Possibly the oil pressure sending unit. It's a sensor. I have no idea where its located on your truck. I've only changed them on TBI chevy engines.

I just read in another post on a Avalanche that the oil pressure sensor was at the rear of the engine under the intake manifold. Just a guess on my part but they stated the book called for R/R of the manifold to replace.

You have to remove the intake manifold in order to take it out. Those sensors have been known to leak and give low oil pressure readings. If you take the intake manifold off and see some oil around the sensor then make sure you go through the proper procedures to seal the leak when putting the new one back in. The sensor should be located toward the rear of the valley cover. I don't remember if you need a special tool to replace the sensor, but good luck on that.
