Default 08 malibu. Dirt caked inside filter box.

Car has spent it's whole life on a dirt road. A vacuum proved not to helpful as it's caked on all sides to where I can scrap layers off with my fingernails. Also the plastic rubber around the bottom is somewhat loose.

Anyways. Is it safe to pour water down to clean all this mud out?

Is it cabin air filter, or combustion air filter?

Combustion id assume. Right in front of the maf sensor.
Like I can stuff my hand down through it and literally every nook and cranny is stuffed with dirt.

Remove, and clean it. Also with the MAF, use MAF cleaner only.
