14015445 block and 3964290 heads overheat
have a (1984) 14015445 block bored .030 over, with 396, crank and rods, and 427 pistons. I have (late 1969) 3964290 heads. ~10.3:1 compression. Comp XE274H-10 cam. Performer RPM dual plane intake. Sniper efi w/ Hyperspark. Cold Case dual core rad (1.25” cores) and dual 12” fans w/ shroud. I have tried 195, 180, 160, and no thermostat at all.
It runs great, I just can’t seem to keep it cool. I realize it’s a big block, and they tend to run towards the warmer side, but this thing will climb to 230 whether , idling or cruising if I let it. I have tried different tunes with more fuel, less fuel, more timing, last timing, nothing helps. I have talked to a tuner and he doesn’t feel like it is a sniper issue. So I started thinking that maybe it’s my head gaskets restricting flow. I have 8523 Fel-Pro gaskets in it right now. If anyone has experience with a set up like this or similar, I would appreciate your thoughts or suggestions. Thanks.
