1970 El Camino won't start

My 70 El Camino won't start. Brand new battery and I get no fire, no lights????

A few more specifics please! What does no fire, no lights mean. Does the starter turn the motor over? I have a 68 waiting to give you my 2 cents worth!

The battery may be new, but how are the battery cables? Are they good at both ends? No corrosion and tight connections? How are the other wires/cables?
