hi im new here and not to good with trucks, my question is my trucks 350 is the factory stock motor how do i tell if its 1 of those emission controlled blocks? this truck is entirely stock and has a 400 turbo trans in it, its a 3/4 crew cab long bed.

 

Does it have an AIR Pump? I believe it would be on the drivers side and kinda of look like a AC Pump.

 

nope no airpump but a a ton of hoses coming off the carb, i wasn't sure. hey whats the stock hp of this engine?

 

The truck was, in all likelyhood set up for emissions.

What do you know about the truck's prior owner(s)

Are you sure the pump wasn't removed?

In cars, 350L blocks generally are rated for 180 HP, but sometimes they made the intake valves on the engines for trucks a little larger. So it could be closer to 200 HP.

 

I may be wrong, but I think in 78 the trucks over 1/2 ton did not require emission control.

 

on the fan shroud there should be a label that gives you your engine info. on the top left it might read PVC AIR EGR CAT also if it meets federal smog or CA. smog requirements
