I have a 91 and I lost reverse in the tranny and now when I put it in drive it won't shift out of first unless you high rev it and it'll barely shift into 3 and then it won't shift into over drive. Any ideas?

did you check your tranny fluid level and does it smell burnt.what about checking the transmision linkage.how many miles and is it 4wd or 2 wd.also could have a transmission throttle valve cable out of adjustment.if the cable is out of adjustment it will not allow the transmission to shift at all.did you do any work in and around the throttle body.i,m assuming you have the 700r4 transmission which have issues once they get up in mileage.it could be anything,start with the transmission fluid first.have you done a tranny service by chance.
