1998 Blazer 4.3L...NEED HELP

Need help determining what this sensor is and where it plugs in at. It's on the drivers side of the block in same area as spark plugs. I have pics but need help on how to post them. Thank you

I've seen these on previous 4.3s that I've owned I always thought it was a heat sensor that would be my guess
