1998 full size van spindle nut torque procedure needed
Here's the specs:
1998 Chevy full size van, 350 CI, half ton chassis, around 90,000 miles. Non extended version.
I just need to know what the proper torque procedure is for this van. You know, back the spindle nut off then tighten it to something like 60 ft lbs while spinning the rotor forward, then back the nut off then torque to something like 15 ft lbs, install castle nut and cotter pin and I'm done.
Dad's got a brake problem with his van and I'm betting the last shop that touched this van just snugged up the spindle nut. I always go by the factory procedure because it does work.
If that doesn't fix the problem, I'll go from there.
Thanks.
