Default 1998 Z71 misfire and losing coolant

I have a 1998 k1500 silverado 4wd 5.7L that has started to miss and lose coolant but is not leaking. It seems to really only miss while idling. A mechanic friend has told me that it's something to do with the intake. I'm sure it's burning coolant. The truck has 215k miles on it and is just a junker but I'm gettin tired of filling the coolant about once a week. If anyone has an idea on fixing it please help.

If you are lucky it is only an intake gasket. Check to see if there is oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. If there is coolant in the oil then you are going to create more serious problems by driving it. Pull the intake manifold and check the gaskets. You should probably do a valve job or even a ring job with that many miles on it.
