there have been some reports of rough idle and code p0014 due to dirty oil clogged cam actuator solenoid screens. if you are not getting p0014 i wouldn't be pulling the solenoids at this time.

another guess is clogged injectors but the only way to tell is testing with special testing equipment.

I did get that code about 3000 miles ago and replaced both solenoids.

I may have found the problem. while moving the elbow on the intake for the brake booster, the idle suddenly was good. I drove it around and it is still good. if it goes bad again, I'll try applying propane to this join to confirm this is the troubled area.

a spray can of brake cleaner does the same job is easier to apply and safer.
