Default 2002 chevy tahoe 4x4 tranny shutter

Hey guys,

When I go from 0 to 5 mph the transmission is not grabbing. This makes the car gently shake. It feels like it is missing every other sprocket (or whatever it is supposed grab).

The car does begin to move and eventually operates properly but from 0 to 5 mph it is very depressing.

What is causing this? What should I be prepared for my mechanic to say?

Thanks.

How many miles does it have on it? When was the last time the filter was changed?
