2003 chevy venture overheating

2003 chevy venture overheating
car overheated, filled the reservoir and bubbles were present. I figured it was head gasket so I used blue devil which worked for about a week. car is doing same thing so I guess the quick way our to the head gasket repair does not work.
One think I noticed is that it would only take about a gallon in the coolant system not the 3 gals is was supposed after I flushed it. any ideas why?
any advice will be appreciated.
