I have read that they have to use a scanner at the GM dealer or locksmith to program a remote for my 2006 Equinox.My question is can I use a regular digital readout code scanner to program it and what is the procedure?

 

a code reader won't do it. any shop will a full function scan tool that can access the rcdlr module will be able to program fobs.
