i bought a used 2007 hhr with a blown engine i bought a used engine from a wrecked hhr same year with 63000 miles on it after i installed the engine i found that the transmission would work normal when put into drive from 1st to 2nd but nothing after no slipping or anything i changed the shift solenoid for 2nd to 3rd shift checked the valve for free movement while i had the side pan off and solenoid removed and still not shifting past 2nd gear i made sure the fluid level was correct,i checked all gnds and power connections and checked the harness that goes to the solenoids for shorts ( pulled the pan again for this) and they were all good all the way to the tcm connector ..and forgot to mention i changed the fluid and filter the first time thinking dirty oil and filter may fix it..on a last ditch effort not to pull the tranny and replace it i flushed it with kerosene and drained it all out hoping to clean out the valve body thinking might be clogging it somewhere ,nogo still doing the same thing shifts from 1st to 2nd smoothly might i add and stops there..replaced the tcm with a known good one same part number still nothing...now my question is could the clutches be warn for those last two gears ? i was thinking it would slip if they were but it wont even shift to 3rd to see if it does slip or not is there anything else i could do to force it to upshift to 3rd and so on ?
