Thanks in advance

You can't disable the auto-stop, but you can trick it by coming up slowly to a stoplight or sign by slowing down and letting up on the brake pedal a bit. Works about 90% of the time in my 2015 Chevy Malibu. You can also put your gear selector into neutral right before you stop.

I'm sure it would take reprogramming of the ECU to disable it. I'm just glad I bought my 2015 Malibu, before Chevrolet yanked the 2.5 liter motor out in the 2016 models, as I don't want a turbocharger in my vehicle. Those are expensive and also heat up the motor oil.

Hi and thanks for the suggestions. Would one have to shift to neutral at every stop? Once stopped, does it need to stay in neutral or can it be placed back in drive?

It can be placed back into drive. But who wants to shift into neutral at stops, unless it's a long stop. If you practice the method I use it will become automatic given time.
