Default 2018 2500HD 6.0 have any form of AFM?

Looking to buy a 2018 2500HD with the 6.0, trying to avoid any form of AFM. Just curious if the 2018 with the 6.0 has AFM?

No. The 6.0 does not have AFM of any kind. That's the beauty of the 6.0. It does have variable camshaft timing but no cylinder deactivation which is what AFM is.

No, this version of VVT is very simple. Just a Camshaft adjuster magnet, oil control valve, and the camshaft phaser. Oil changes with high quality oil will be key!

Use Mobil 1, make sure it says “Dexos1, generation 3” on the front for best quality and performance from that engine, they hate ****ty oil

I will say this: as long as you keep up maintenance that thing will run probably close to 250k, maybe 300k before anything major engine related.

- Change oil with dexos gen 3 + Mobil 1 filter every 5000 miles, no longer unless you want sludge.

-change transmission fluid every 35,000 miles, fluid, filter, pan gasket

-change differential fluid every 50,000 miles

If you do all of that and just keep an eye out for any leaks (big thing on GM trucks) that will run forever. It may tick a little bit like mine does, it’s normal literally everyone of them does it so don’t worry. Obviously if it’s loud be worried but a quiet little tick that’s barely audible is fine. Main things are do the above maintenance schedule and repair and leaks right when they start, it’s a solid vehicle!
