I have heard horror stories about voided warranties for very minor technicalities, and I can't seem to get a straight forward answer.

I want to install a smartcap canopy/cap. These canopies are bolted down and include a third brake light. I believe I can bolt down the canopy without voiding anything, but I can't seem to get a straight answer about the third light. One person said it wont void anything and another said I must have a Chevy dealer wire in the third brake light. My family owns an automotive repair shop so it would be a bummer if I have to pay dealership technician prices for something I could otherwise have done for free.
