I would like to ask the question if replacing the timimg chain sprockets are worth the money. I repair a few of these problem motors a year and wonder if it's really worth spending the money on sprockets. I don't like to cut corners, but hate to spend the money if it's really not necessary.

 

What motor and year are you speaking of?

 

Years are from 08 to 12, on the 3.6 .

 

It all depends on the model of the vehicle, mileage and if it's a noninterference
motor, IMO.

What do the parts look like? If the owner didn't do regular oil changes on a high
mileage engine, then they ought to be replaced, IMHO.

 

That is kind of how I have been looking at it. They are usually 175k motors. Some maintenanced better than others. But seemed best to replace . Thanks.
