400 Smallblock build. Need ideas
Hello everyone, newbie here
So as it says I am looking for ideas on a build for a 400sb. I have give or take about $4000 to put into the engine. Also I am knowledgeable and handy and have worked on many cars but never did a block up build so it's new territory for me and I want to do it right.
The engine is a 1969 400 smallblock 4 bolt main. Came out of a Impala and it has about 80k miles on it.
First thing I'm doing is having it magnafluxed, pressure tested and hot tanked.
It's going to be going into a Chevy s10.
Really I just need some different ideas that fit into my motor budget being I never built a 400sb. It's going to be my summer toy, weekend toy and occassionally gonna bring it to the local dragstrip.
I know for cheap money I can crank horsepower out of it but what I want is a torque monster...or as much torque as I can get for roughly $4000. Also I refuse to use cheap parts. Understandable quality=money but thats ok. It's worth it.
Any help or advice or ideas would be great!
Thanks!
