Angry 454 Marine Engine NO Spark

1995 454 Marine Engine with resistor, electronics points, & coil. No start, engine will not start. On ballistor resistor 12v on both sides......should be 12v & 6-7v YES or NO..... changes resistor, points and coil. no start......No Spark ......I am baffled ........

The resistor is in parrallel with battery voltage. When you crank/start the engine from the switch the coil has full battery voltage when the switch is to crank, or starter engaged. When the starter switch is off the crank, but key on, it has the battery circuit disabled, and is on the resistor the coil. Long story short, you can put battery voltage direct to the coil, try to start it, if it has no spark, it isn't the solenoid, probably the coil.
