Default 5.3 oil psi

good morning guys ive got a 2005 chevy suburban 5.3 motor had lost oil psi message came on in message center psi was in red took to shop replaced oil pump and and pick up tube they tried three different filters but psi is only at 18 cold start up and 20 when warm while driving at about 35-45 mph psi will go up to 40 but at idle it goes down to 10-15 psi any idea my guy cant figure it out should i be worried thank you

Did they check the oil pressure sending unit and gauge. It's a possibility that there is a problem there. i would always check the pressure with a manual gauge before going any further. How many miles are on the engine?

Your motor is gone, man. You didn't mention miles or how well you took care of it, but its toast if it's using oil, which it is.

they tested with gauge they changed sending unit truck has 154000 miles on it there is no relieve valve in oil pan either

these motors do use oil but this one is not using oil not loosing oil no funky engine noises runs strong smooth idle it has low oil psi truck has 154000 miles and has been cared for real well no hard drivng only thing is towed a little 21foot boat to river each summer for past 3 years

What oil are you using? Possibly going to a heavier oil might increase the pressure some.

5-30 oil there is no noise from motor it runs smooth can sit and idle for 20 mins with no heating up nor burned oil smell at high way speeds it only gets up to 40 psi my wifes 2002 yukon 168000 miles idles at 40 psi im not sure if im just tripping maybe just let it go but id hate to screw up my motor
