Hi,

I have a 99 Prizm and the power windows will only work when my driver's side door is open. When i close the door it sounds like the power locks are engaging or a solenoid is activating and the windows won't work. The power locks do not actually lock but it makes the noise like they are engaging. Again the power windows only work when the driver's side door is open. I disconnected the power switch assembly and i still hear the noise when I open and close the driver's side door. I appreciate any help anyone could provide me with this very frustrating problem. Thank you!

 

check for broken wires in the A-pillar. the 17 years of flexing when the door open and closes probably broke the wires.
