Default !997 Chevrolet C2500 Suburban 7.4L Power Steering Pump Remove and Replace

I was experiencing intermittent lost of power assist steering and brakes due to a bad power steering pump that had an EVO solenoid attached to it. I replaced it with a rebuilt one without the EVO solenoid. I managed to reconnect the original high pressure hose to the back of the pump and left out the EVO solenoid. It work good now but the high pressure hose is a bit close to the exhaust manifold so I put a shield on it to protect it from excessive heat. Would it be possible to replace it with the high pressure hose designed for a 1996 Chevrolet C2500 7.4L (Non EVO) as a replacement? I'm hoping for a better fit and more distance away from the hot exhaust manifold.
