So is the actual delco dexros gen 2 full synthetic 5w30 good to use with a 2001 4.8? Has 209000 miles. Part number 10-9246.
only reason I ask is I can get it free from my work. Or should I run pensoil, Castrol etc.

If your vehicle specifies 5w30 then I don't see why not. Full synthetic will be much better that whatever we used in 2001. Having a higher mileage engine, keep an eye on your oil pressure and dipstick to make sure you're not losing any. If so, you may need something thicker.
