Default AC problem

I have a 2004 4x4 3500 silverado, my air conditioner sounds loud when on high but hardly any air comes out the vents. Its sounds like its on defrost but its not and no air comes out of there. I live in Texas, its summer time, and its my work truck haha. After 10 hours of workin in the heat it would be so nice to feel the air. The local dealerships says its a 4 1/2 hr job at nearly a $100 an hr. Cant afford it and was hoping someone on here has had the same problem and could help me with info on how to remove the dash if need be. i get a 3 day weekend starting tomorrow and want to try fix it if possible.

If the air doesn't come out the defroster and doesn't come out the vent where is it going? Does it come out by your feet? If so, it is the actuator that controls where the air is diverted to. If it doesn't come at your feet or anywhere else, look at the blower motor and or the fan motor resister.

Sounds like 2 problems. The actuator and the fan motor resister.
