If you never have three people in the front seat, your console seat between your front buckets (the "20" in the 40/20/40 front seats) is a complete waste. I removed the space-wasting "20" console seat. Then I installed a plexiglass base platform,put the amp on it, and ran the wiring to the door speakers laterally under the seats.

Then I built a storage console between the two seats over the AMP and the cooling fans. I switched the direction the storage lid flips up, and set up a small folding platform on top which folds out to the passenger's seat, hinged laterally into the lid. Then I upholstered the top lid, so it would be a comfortable armrest. for both driver and passenger. So the top lid folds out into a mini desktop. Fold it back up and lock it, and the lid for the console storage over the amp folds forward, so it's not banging into the driver's elbow.

Rather than using up all of my storage space under my rear seats, I created more storage by eliminating all the wasted seat area between the front buckets.

 

Just install the Alpine x009-GM perfect fit, system for $1700. Now trying to tie in backup camera.

 

Any pics? How do you like it? I'm considering the X009-GM2 now that they have a version that will fit my truck. I just don't like how it moves the 4x4 selector to the passenger side...

 

I used to run (8) Sundown Audio SA-12's with 2 SAZ-3500D's. That's all gone now, building something new.
